Our first celebration was on October 6 when Sister Louise celebrated her 60th Jubilee with Residents, family, friends, and staff. Fr. Rocha from St. John Regis presided over mass – followed by lunch, dancing to a mariachi band, and of course, cake. Sister’s journey as a Little Sister began in Summerville, MA when her high school friends invited her to volunteer at a Little Sisters of the Poor home. Although Sister declined several times, one day she decided to join the girls. As she watched the Sisters busily helping the elderly poor, she knew then that she too wanted to become a Little Sister. For the past 60 years, Sr. Louise has been involved in the direct care of hundreds of elderly poor around the country. Even today, Sr. Louise actively oversees the needs of our apartment Residents and plans their in-house activities, as well as outings. Sr. Louise said that it has been 60 wonderful years of serving the Lord. She also said that the highlight of her vocation was her trip to Rome in 2009 for the Canonization of Saint Jeanne Jugan. Thank you Sr. Louise for saying “yes” to the request of your high school friends. Your devotion to the mission of the Little Sisters of the Poor has been a blessing to each Resident you have served.
