Friday, February 2 was the World Day for Consecrated Life. That day, and throughout the weekend that followed, people across the world said prayers of thanksgiving for the men and women who have dedicated their lives to serving God and their neighbors. They also prayed for vocations – for young people to heed the call to serve and to continue the work of those before them.
As we celebrated the day here at the Jeanne Jugan Center, we were reminded how blessed we are to have our vocations. As Pope Francis recently remarked: “A vocation is a gift we have received from the Lord, who fixed his gaze on us and called us, calling us to follow him in the consecrated life.” We couldn’t agree more!
Please join us in continuing to pray for vocations, and that Saint Jeanne Jugan’s message of love and respect for the elderly will inspire more young women to follow her example of humble service.
