May 13 – 19 was National Skilled Nursing Care Week (formerly National Nursing Home Week). A yearly celebration, the week-long observance recognizes the role of skilled nursing care centers in caring for America’s seniors and individuals with disabilities.
Here at the Jeanne Jugan Center, we decided to celebrate “Our Home Week,” with different events every day in appreciation of our Residents, employees and sisters who all contribute to the family atmosphere. From Bad Hair Day and balloon volleyball, to a family breakfast, ice cream social, and potluck lunch, there were plenty of opportunities for everyone to have fun and bond.
But the favorite day of the whole week was Tuesday, or Twin Day. Employees and Residents teamed up and dressed alike for the day. There were some great looks and friendly competition as the pairs vied for the coveted title of “best twins.” Each participant also got a photo to remember the day.
We are grateful to everyone who helped make this week special, and all those who daily care for our Residents as family and make our Home a true “home.”
