225 years ago on October 25th, a baby girl was born to a poor family in a small fishing village in France. Little did her parents know what an important day that would turn out to be, and what an impact baby Jeanne would grow up to make on the world.
Now hundreds of Little Sisters and thousands of elderly Residents later, the 25th still holds a special place on our calendar and in our hearts. It’s when we celebrate our beloved Foundress, Saint Jeanne Jugan’s birthday.
Even though she was born in a different time on a far-away continent, her message is still relevant today in the many homes throughout the world that carry on her mission and live her mantra of, “making the elderly happy, that is what counts!”

Activities assistant Linda lights the candles as Sr. Michael prepares to lead a Happy Birthday song.
Happy Birthday Jeanne Jugan!
