A Different Kind of Celebration
A big, in-person party was out of the question this year due to the pandemic, but that didn’t stop Resident Isabelle’s children from coming to wish her a happy birthday. They were going to celebrate the day, even if it had to be done through glass. And celebrate they did – all nine kids showed up in the parking lot with balloons and signs in hand, singing “Happy Birthday” to their mom through the window. It meant a lot to Isabelle, and was touching for all of us to witness.
This past year’s visitor restrictions have been hard on everyone, especially family members like Isabelle’s who don’t get to see their loved ones like they are used to. We’ve done our best to help them keep in touch with phone calls and Skype, but realize it’s not the same. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we work to keep our home and Residents safe. Like them, we are looking forward to the time when families can safely visit in person again.
