The answer many elderly people give when asked how to enjoy a long and happy life is “to keep moving.” That’s exactly what a group of Residents was doing this morning in our weekly Old Fashioned Exercise class.
The class involves stretching and movements that can be done sitting down, and they are customized to fit different abilities so that anyone can participate. It also includes music to set the mood. Lively tunes can be heard during the main part of the exercises, followed by lovely relaxing sounds to help with the cool-down and stretching portion.
After “keep moving,” the next most popular answer for a long and happy life would probably be to “have fun.” The class fulfills that requirement too. Our Residents enjoy the socialization and many comment how nice it feels to move. They say it starts their day off on a positive note.
