This year, like every year here at the Jeanne Jugan Center, we celebrated National Nursing Home Week by showing our Residents just how much they mean to us.
Employees individually “adopted” a Resident and became their secret pal for the week. Each day, the secret pal would leave a small gift by the Resident’s door while they were out. The Residents enjoyed getting a treat and speculating about who their “pal” might be. At the end of the week a reception was held, and identities were revealed. This is a yearly tradition and according to several employees, is enjoyed by them as much as it is the Residents.
National Nursing Home Week was established by the American Health Care Association (AHCA) in 1967 and always begins on Mother’s Day. It recognizes the role of skilled nursing care centers in caring for America’s seniors.
We would like to thank all of our employees who embody the family spirit of our Foundress, Saint Jeanne Jugan, and share in our mission of hospitality to the elderly. We are grateful!
