On Flag Day, Boy Scouts from our neighboring parish, St. Regis, joined us for a brief celebration. Everyone gathered – in the shade! – to watch the Scouts hoist the Stars and Stripes.
After the flag was raised, we all recited the Pledge of Allegiance and sang the “Star-Spangled Banner”.
It was nice to take time out to thank God for this country and for the freedoms we enjoy; freedoms that are sometimes taken for granted.
