It was such a joy for the Little Sisters, Residents, and staff to spend time with Mother Provincial Maria Christine and Sister Therese Marie during their two week stay at the Jeanne Jugan Center. Mother visits each home to lend her support and guidance to the mission of the Little Sisters of the Poor.
Mother Maria Christine and Sister Therese Marie were joyfully met by Little Sisters, Residents, and staff when they arrived at the Center.
The celebration of Jeanne Jugan’s 1st Anniversary of her Canonization was a mix of donated French and Italian pastries, candies, cheeses, bread, drinks, and music. Mother (right) and Sister Therese Marie (left) are pictured with one of our Residents.
Staff members found out firsthand what “other duties as required” means on the Little Sisters of the Poor employment application! Staff members and volunteers pitched in and helped with the St. Jugan celebration as wine servers and crepe makers.
Talent was plentiful as the Residents and staff welcomed Mother Maria Christine and Sister Therese Marie with a wonderful mix of skits, music, dog tricks, and poetry.
Mother always brings a treat for the Little Sisters, Residents, and staff. This year’s treat? A tin of tasty shortbread cookies. Great for dunking! Thank you Mother Maria Christine and Sister Therese Marie.
The week also included a blessed visit from Dr. and Mrs. Gatz (center). It was the answered prayers of Mrs. Gatz to Jeanne Jugan that led to the miraculous healing of Dr. Gatz – the final miracle that led to the Canonization of Jeanne Jugan.
