The Wonders of Pet Therapy

  • February 15, 2012

The thing that is great about Little Sisters of the Poor is we truly are a family and what is a family without dogs! Our dietary supervisor, Marge Clanahan brought her two best friends Journey and Ricochet to hang out with the Residents on Valentine’s Day, which is quite fitting since Ricochet sports a perfect white heart on top of his head.
When a Resident leaves his or her home, usually, that includes leaving a beloved pet behind, which can truly leave an empty space in the Resident’s life. Today, Journey and Ricochet helped fill that void for some of our Residents. Pet therapy has known therapeutic effects, but science cannot measure the amount of joy in a heart when given the opportunity to experience the unconditional love of a wiggly, squiggly, slobbery puppy.
Pictured with the Residents are Marge Clanahan, and Vicki Taylor.
