In 1996, my friend and I went to the Little Sisters of the Poor to see if we could volunteer. Sister Denise came to us and said, “How would you like to make beds.” We said, “Yes” and started making beds on the first floor. The next week Sister came back and said, “Would you like to do 1st floor one week and 2nd floor the second week?” We have been making beds ever since. My friend had to quit, but I have a friend who has been with me now for 5 years. This past year we got two more volunteers. We love doing this and the Residents love having us. Visiting is so much fun.

Irene and friend Rose, along with two new volunteers make nearly 100 beds a month. The amount of time they spend making beds is the extra amount of time that our staff has to care for our elderly poor Residents.
Thank you to our bed makers and thank you to The H & R Block Foundation for providing new bedding for all of our Residents’ beds.
