National Nursing Home Week

  • May 28, 2014

By Pat Benyo, Activities Director

To celebrate National Nursing Home Week (May 11-17), many of our employees at Jeanne Jugan Center became secret pals for the week by “adopting” someone from among the Home’s Residents.

Each secret pal anonymously left his or her Resident a small token gift daily, Monday through Friday. This created quite the topic of conversation among the Residents as they talked of their surprises, and wondered who had their name. On Friday the Residents were finally told who their pal was, and escorted to the mall where they enjoyed a picnic lunch with their person.
We have done this event at our home for many years, and always witness some special friendships that arise. We appreciate all the efforts of those who made it possible.
