Summer often involves relaxing, spending time with friends and family, and maybe even a trip or two to the lake for some outdoor fun. For one young man, in addition to the usual activities, his summer included raising money for charity and a whole lot of baking!
Twelve-year-old Nico likes to give back, and likes to bake, so he decided to combine the two by selling his delicious cakes and giving the proceeds to charity. He was familiar with the Little Sisters from hearing our sisters speak at his parish (pre-pandemic of course), so he chose us as the lucky recipients!
So all summer long, Nico took orders from friends and family, and made them his delicious creations. After selling a whopping $1,600 worth of baked goods, the savvy young philanthropist also secured matching gifts from the companies owned by his parents and grandparents. Imagine our delight when Nico came and gave us checks totaling almost $5,000!
We were thrilled to meet such a kind and generous – and talented – young man. It is edifying to see the younger generations reaching out to help with the care of the older ones. We wish Nico all the best in life and know that his compassion and creativity will take him far!
