It was 130 years ago that the first six Little Sisters arrived in Kansas City to prepare a Home for Kansas City’s elderly poor and 25 years ago since they moved into their new Home on James A Reed Road. To get the yearlong celebrations started, the Little Sisters offered an appreciation Mass and reception honoring advisory board members, physicians who provided services to the Residents over the years, and benefactors.
Bishop Emeritus Raymond Boland celebrated Holy Mass. Our dedicated Chaplain at the Jeanne Jugan Center, Fr. John McCormack, concelebrated. Following Mass, our guests enjoyed a reception of hors d’oeuvres and confections, – prepared by a Little Sister and Resident – as they visited with Bishop Boland, Little Sisters, and other guests.
It is through the kindness and generosity of our benefactors that the Little Sisters of the Poor have been able to provide shelter, nutrition, love and respect to the elderly poor of Kansas City. We thank you for continuing to open your hearts in support and stewardship of our precious elders.
